Middle and High School Social Studies Teacher Needed for 2025-2026 Academic Year
Shepherd International Education in Seoul is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Studies teacher for middle and high school students starting August 11, 2025. This is an excellent opportunity to join a diverse international community and contribute to student success.
Basic Requirements:
- Currently residing in Korea
- Holders of F visa, Korean visa, or E2 visa are all eligible if qualified
- Must be registered as a teacher with the Ministry of Education
Working Conditions:
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM or 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Paid vacation including all national holidays, 4 personal/sick days annually, 2 weeks winter break, 1 week spring break, 4 weeks summer break
- Complimentary cafeteria lunch
- Four insurances plus severance payment
- Starting salary: 3.0 million KRW/month (negotiable based on qualifications and experience)
- Housing provided by the school or monthly housing allowance of 500,000 KRW for foreign nationals
- Teaching load: Maximum 5 classes out of 8 in the schedule (excluding after-school clubs)
- Class size: Approximately 5 to 16 students
- Professional development: Initial Teacher Training and two annual professional development days
- Faculty: Over 30 teaching staff members

Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate Social Studies educator with a strong commitment to fostering global awareness, critical thinking, and civic responsibility in students. The ideal candidate will deliver an engaging and inquiry-based curriculum for grades 6 through 12 while supporting a multicultural and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging Social Studies lessons aligned with school learning objectives and standards (e.g., AERO, IBDP)
- Teach courses including History, Geography, Civics, Global Studies, Economics, and World Cultures
- Develop and assess learning experiences that encourage critical thinking and research skills
- Create an inclusive and culturally responsive classroom atmosphere
- Incorporate educational technology, including Google Workspace for Education
- Provide timely feedback and maintain accurate student progress records
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary planning and school events
- Support students through advisory roles, clubs, field trips, and co-curricular activities
- Maintain professional communication with students, parents, and staff
- Uphold the school’s mission, values, and code of conduct
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Political Science, Geography, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Valid teaching certification/license in Social Studies or Secondary Education (preferred)
- Minimum 2 years teaching experience, ideally in international or multicultural settings
- Ability to teach multiple grade levels and content areas in humanities
- Experience with student-centered, inquiry-based, and project-based learning
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Proficiency with educational technology and digital platforms such as Google Workspace
